Can you explain what \with Customization\ means (e.g., Novell SUSE Linux with Customization is ranked #2 at 0.29 hours per year)?

Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to visit the site and pose a question. The reference to “with customization” means that an organization did a custom implementation where they tweaked some things in the server OS and/or are in a vertical such as healthcare, legal etc. where they are running highly customized applications that are developed in-house. In these scenarios, we typically find many expert network administrators who are a lot like master mechanics. They know what they’re doing and they fine tune and optimize their environments to the “nth” degree. And this manifests itself in extremely high reliability.

Thanks for checking in! Good timing. Yes, I’m right in the middle of the 2010-2011 Server hardware and server OS Reliability survey. I expect to release the data in early September. This year’s survey is more comprehensive than last year’s poll in that we delve more deeply into the issues that can impact uptime and availability e.g., the age of the server and the OS. We also poll customers on their satisfaction with the service, support and feature set of their vendors. Please let me know if you’d like to participate and I’ll send you the link.
